Cue of the Week: The Groupie

This week we have my stab at the venerable "lesbian groupie seduction scene" film-musical genre. The scene called for a musical texture that was both dreamlike and sensual, all while remaining within the film movie's rock-and-roll universe. I prefer to use organic sound sources when writing ambient music, so in this case turned to layers of processed electric guitar. (There is a touch of synthesized timbres as well.) The alluring vocals were provided by contemporary blues singer/songwriter Hilary Hearty.

That opening chord just hangs in the air like a dilettante angel. That one note (you know the one I'm talking about) in the subsequent arpeggios works well. And then we have a frenetic build into...? We may never know.

Zazzy.

If memory serves, the groupie in the scene is actually wearing a shirt that says "angels exist".

And you will in the not-too-far-future be able learn firsthand what happens after the build!
